Chromczak Farms
Our farm family includes the incredible team that we have built over the years, and each season we feel fortunate to welcome back our partners from Jamaica. We have built a culture based on trust and respect on our farm, and it allows us to overcome the challenges of farming in Canada, while having fun and taking pride in what we do.
25 Years Of Experience
GEM Watermelon is a partnership formed by George Zoltak, Ed Chromczak and Mike Chromczak that produces and packs high quality seedless and seeded watermelons for the fresh Ontario, Canadian and U.S market from late July to mid September.
Employing the best and most responsible cultural practices with leading equipment and technology our melons are hand selected, inspected, polished and packed in 35, 45, 60 and 80 count bins. We are registered with CHEP, Peco and iTrade and have our own trucks and have access to reliable freight to your distribution centre.
By partnering with other CanadaGAP certified Ontario farmers we have helped establish The GROWER’s marketing group and have developed a strong marketing portfolio to deal with a select group of buyers to successfully market the vast majority of our crop directly to premium retailers (Loblaw’s, Costco, Farm Boy, KFT etc) to optimize food traceability, safety and quality. We welcome inquires for new marketing opportunities and can assure we will exceed to expectations of your Q.A department and your customers.
Our Farm & People
We have invested in new housing for our partners that live and work on the farm to provide them with a comfortable and safe space to call home. Modern amenities include air conditioning, in-home laundry, satellite television, WIFI and plenty of space and privacy as well. Our production facility has also expanded to include 12,000 square feet of heated workspace and 4,000 square feet of high capacity cooling space. We follow a rigorous preventive maintenance schedule to keep all of our farm equipment safe and in optimal condition.
